HEKS-EPER (Hilfswerk der Evangelischen Kirchen Schweiz) is the aid organisation of the Protestant Churches of Switzerland) and has its headquarters in Zurich/Switzerland. HEKS/EPER gives humanitarian and emergency aid and fights the causes of hunger, injustice and social deprivation. HEKS/EPER has its own coordination offices in 20 key countries and 200 projects worldwide.

Background information on the HEKS/EPER South Sudan program
HEKS/EPER implements through its five local partner organisations (PO) seven development projects in South Sudan (WASH, agriculture, fishery, skills development, informal education, access to land).
Tasks & expected outcomes
• Represent HEKS in relation with WASH projects in South Sudan (local authorities, cluster coordination meetings etc.) in close cooperation with HEKS Country Director.
• Examine WASH project proposals submitted by PO.
• Support POs in the selection of consultants for baseline surveys and evaluations of WASH projects in close cooperation with the Country Director.
• Assist the POs dealing with WASH projects with attaining the set project goals and support them with their own organizational development.
• Conduct regular field visits to HEKS WASH projects in South Sudan;
• Ensure that all visits are closely coordinated with the HEKS Country Director;
• On-site support and accompaniment of HEKS WASH projects in Central Equatoria, South Sudan;
• Overseeing and supervising implementation of WASH projects by partner organizations (POs);
• Assess POs and offer training and support in the field of WASH in order to enhance their capacities;
• Accompany donors or HEKS personnel visiting WASH projects upon request of the Country Director or the Desk Officer.
• To assess PO’s capacities in terms of WASH and to elaborate an action plan (needs based curriculum) until December 2016 to the Country Director.
• Networking: Meet other international organisations working in HEKS project areas in the field of WASH in order to exchange information and to increase the HEKS visibility in close cooperation with the Country Director.
• Share knowledge and experiences within the organization in terms of WASH.
• The holder of this position will also be expected to perform other duties as assigned by his/her supervisor
Competenciess**
· Technical University Degree in Water or Civil Engineering with at least 2 years of experience
· Experience in drilling of boreholes, construction of platforms, construction of shallow wells, construction of rainwater harvesting structures, protection of springs, latrines construction in institutions and communities is highly desirable.
· Knowledge of Hygiene promotion in emergency contexts as well as in development projects, thorough understanding of PHAST, CLTS, CHAST methodologies among others is highly sought.
· Be able to use computer and office based applications. Engineering software applications may be useful.
· Good spoken and written English are highly recommended to apply.
