HEKS/EPER, Swiss Church Aid, supports projects to combat hunger, poverty and injustice in 32 countries on four continents. HEKS/EPER also provides emergency relief for victims of natural disasters and armed conflict worldwide and supports the welfare and social work of the Reformed Churches in Eastern Europe. In Switzerland, HEKS/EPER champions the rights and the integration of refugees and socially disadvantaged people.
For our Regional Response in the Middle East HEKS/EPER Humanitarian Aid Department is looking to recruit a strong candidate to act as Regional Representative for the Middle East as soon as possible. HEKS/EPER is seeking expand and increase its activities in the Middle East as a response to the Syria and Iraq crisis.
Regional Representative Middle East (100%)
The mandate:
- Elaboration of HEKS/EPER regional implementation and funding strategy for the Whole of Syria crisis including Iraq
- Liaison and networking with large donors, NGOs, UN organizations and local authorities.
- Facilitate the registration process with donors such as ECHO, USAID and DFID
- Development of funding proposals for aforementioned donors
- Representation of HEKS/EPER in relevant humanitarian clusters and working groups in Jordan and Lebanon
- Assist in the registration process for Syria
- Continuous situation analysis and reporting around the Syria and Iraq conflict
Qualifications:
- University degree in a relevant field
- Minimum five years experience in the humanitarian sector, of which at least three years in a field management position, preferably in the region
- Familiarity with large donors such as ECHO and USAID are an absolute must
- Experience working for INGOs, experience with Swiss actors will be considered an asset
- Thorough knowledge of the humanitarian sector and relevant standards
- Sound knowledge of proposal writing, budget management, monitoring and evaluation
- Proven ability to work in intercultural teams
- Ability to work in insecure settings and under pressure
- Ability to work both independently and with teams, excellent facilitation skills, sensitivity for gender & social equity and local culture
- Language skills: excellent written and oral proficiency in English, Readiness to travel extensively in the region
