Iraq: Country Coordinator Iraq (KRI) Emergency Aid, Recovery and Reconstruction, Fluent in Kurdish, Arabic and English

HEKS (Hilfswerk der Evangelischen Kirchen Schweiz) is the aid organisation of the Protestant Churches of Switzerland) and has its headquarters in Zurich/Switzerland. HEKS provides humanitarian and emergency aid and tackles the causes of hunger, injustice and social deprivation both in Switzerland and abroad.

For our humanitarian response in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) HEKS is looking for a National Programme Coordinator for Iraq as per 1 December 2016 for the HEKS Iraq office in KRI. HEKS is working with partner organisations in providing emergency aid to IDPs and Refugees in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

HEKS National Programme Coordinator (Kurdistan Region of Iraq) – National Position

Tasks:

  • Provide support to local partners in the implementation of humanitarian projects
  • Ensure compliance with contracts, donor requirements and international standards
  • Conduct regular project monitoring and financial checks of projects.
  • Draft project proposals
  • Further elaborate the HEKS intervention strategy in the Iraq response
  • Networking with other Swiss NGOs and ACT Alliance partners
  • Liaison with Swiss and other donor agencies
  • Coordination with UN-organisations, KRI-government and International organisations

Qualifications:

  • University degree in a relevant field.

  • Minimum of five years working experience in the humanitarian sector, preferably in project management

  • Experience working for INGOs, experience with Swiss actors will be considered an asset

  • Thorough knowledge of the humanitarian sector and relevant standards

  • Experience in sustainable livelihood programmes is an asset

  • Sound knowledge of proposal writing, budget management, monitoring and evaluation

  • Proven ability to work in intercultural teams

  • Ability to work in insecure settings and under pressure

  • Language skills: good in English, Kurdish and Arabic
